Arts Week 2023 Applications are now closed. Thank you to the 120+ applicants. Notifications have been sent out so check your email.
Participants are awarded a residency stay arriving Sunday March 12th and departing Sunday March 19th for $200 which covers accommodations and all programming, taxes not included. Creatives of all types are encouraged to apply. Generally 30-35 artists and art collectives are selected from the application process to participate. Honoring our commitment to racial justice we are offering residencies at the lower cost of $150 for all selected BIPOC artists. Additionally, we have limited funding available to artists who could use financial assistance. The funds we have set aside will be shared among all interested artists. More details are listed on the application link above.
Arts Week is a two part event. Sunday-Thursday artists create, interact and enjoy an arts residency near the beach. On Friday evening and all day Saturday we open to the public as a grand exhibition to share everyone’s art.
All Arts Week participants use their accommodations as their studio space which vary in size and space. Visit the list of all vintage travel trailers, cabins and lodge rooms for more details about each accommodation at The Sou’wester. At the end of the week each participant will show their work, a finished piece or work in process, to the public on Friday and Saturday and may chose to set up a display in their accommodations or install/perform in a few other options such as a covered cabin carport, outdoor band stage, art trailer gallery, nearby woods or beach, etc as is listed in the application. The public will pick up a map and walk to each space to experience the open studio, performance or installation.

To help participating artists plan where they would like to either display or perform/present their work for the public on Friday March 17th and Saturday March 18th as part of ARTS WEEK 2023 we made a full webpage with photos and text of various potential spaces: ARTS WEEK 2023 Potential Project Locations
Our current Covid-19 policy for Arts Week 2023:
Arts Week participants will not be required to show proof of vaccination or booster updates. Please consider taking an at-home Covid test 2 days before traveling to the Sou’wester. If anyone tests positive please notify us and stay home.
We also ask that all Arts Week participants test themselves first thing upon arrival before check-in at The Sou’wester. Please bring your own Covid test-kits; we will have a few test-kits available to those in need.
Wearing a face covering will be left to each person’s personal situation and preference. This will apply to Arts Week participants, the public and Sou’wester Staff.
We will update or change these guidelines as needed and communicate any changes.
