In 1945, oil tycoon J. Paul Getty had a vision to create the very best mobile home possible, today Thandi Rosenbaum has a vision to bring that prototype trailer to the Historic Sou’Wester Lodge as part of the first ever Spartan Rally.  Don Denning, Spartan aficionado, is organizing the event, which welcomes all Spartans of all years and in all conditions. There will be trailer tours, a bonfire, and lots of fun happenings.

The very first Spartan trailer with rolled into the world in 1945. It was the brainchild of the Spartan Aircraft Company that built aircrafts during the World War II. After the war, housing was short and the need for war planes no longer a priority, so owner J. Paul Getty produced the first Spartan based the design of one of the companies planes. The Spartan was produced from 1946 until 1960.

The Trailers were built to the highest possible standards, with many deco style design elements. They were considered the “Cadillac” of trailers, some reaching 50 feet in length.

The Historic Sou’Wester Lodge in Seaview, Washington is hosting the very first “All Spartan Rally” coming July 26, 27, and 28th, 2013. They are calling all Spartans and a Spartan fans from across the USA to join them in celebrating this amazing specimen of workmanship and American ingenuity.

They have even been offered the rare opportunity to display the very first Spartan prototype trailer produced. Obviously, these trailers are not easy to move, so the trailer’s owner has created a crowd funding campaign to bring the trailer to the Long Beach Peninsula for this once in a lifetime event.
