Arts Week is a weeklong expression of the Sou’wester’s year-round artist residency program, brought fully into view. Each March, over 40 artists and collectives gather across the entire property, living, making, and collaborating in a shared rhythm of creation.

The first half of the week is devoted to process. Studios hum, ideas take shape, and work unfolds through experimentation and exchange.

By the weekend, everything opens. From Friday through Sunday, the public is invited for a free, immersive experience as the Sou’wester grounds transform into a living gallery. Explore installations, enjoy performances, and step into working studios. Cabins come alive, lodge suites offer a glimpse into an artist’s mind, and the woods and nearby beach are woven with art.

Rooted in place, the work is shaped by the coastal landscape, shifting weather, local histories, and the energy of collective making. Artists arrive with their own practices and perspectives, responding in real time to the environment, to one another, and to a shared annual theme.

Arts Week gives artists a rare, focused week to create within a diverse and dynamic cohort, where fresh ideas and the rhythms of the coast spark a sense of newness. For the public, it is a chance to be immersed in a vibrant creative ecosystem, to connect with artists as people, not just their work, and to leave moved, inspired, and carrying that energy outward. Together, the residency and public experience illuminate the power of creativity, community, and place. Arts Week casts light into the heart of winter and sends a pulse of creativity across the Washington coast.

Whether you are an artist or simply curious, Arts Week is something you feel as much as you see. It only happens once a year. Mark your calendar, (Arts Week 2027 dates coming soon) and explore past Arts Week galleries below.
