Explore a rainbow of pigments during this Natural Dye Workshop with Iris Sullivan! Inspired by the occasional rainbow amidst the gray and rain, in this workshop students will create dye silk rainbows to lift our spirits and enliven our hearts. Materials fee for this workshop is $30

Immerse yourself in a sense of place and explore the ecology of the Long Beach Peninsula through an artistic and scientific lense. This unique series of workshops is led by one of our internal staff members and is offered every other week on T, W, and Th from Jan 18th – March 31st. A 3D design and build workshop focusing on material exploration and object purpose. Students will have access to a variety of materials such as wood, wire, fabric, clay and other odds and ends to experiment with and sculpt into their own inventive objects. Materials fee for this workshop is $15

Saturday’s workshop will be a more in depth exploration in cold forging techniques using simple tools such as a hammer, steel bench block, and pliers. Materials fee for this workshop is $30

In this workshop we will turn unwanted garments into new fabulous creations! Bring in any piece of clothing you no longer want and we’ll make it into something completely new and unique! Learn to apply basic sewing skills to reimagine new styles. Materials fee for this workshop is $20

Belgian filmmaker Anouk De Clercq is our featured Artist-In-Residence in the lead up to Sou’wester Arts Week 2022. Anouk’s residency will culminate in daily screenings of One (2020), OK (2021) and We’ll find you when the sun goes black (2021); on rotation beginning Thursday, March 24th in the Sou’wester’s red bus micro cinema. Free and open to the public 5-9 p.m. daily.
