Pat Hull : Presented by Sou’wester Arts

Pat Hull is a singer-songwriter from Connecticut currently based out of Chico, CA. His music
intertwines a melodic, soulful, counter-tenor vocal range with a unique finger picking style,
creating a dreamy landscape with unpredictable hooks and turns. Pat’s newest release ‘St. Clare’
showcases his delicate yet raw ability to compose, sing, write, and perform. Prior recordings
include ‘Light’ and ‘Shed Skin,‘ recorded and produced in Bennington, VT with engineer, JJ
Beck and vocalist, Michael Chinworth. This collaborative effort brought a vocally and lyrically
charged center to Pat’s songwriting, and displayed a collection of songs with a detailed and
complex configuration of supporting instrumentation.

Blair Borax : Presented by Sou’wester Arts @ The Sou'wester
Mar 26 @ 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Blair Borax is a Portland, Oregon based singer-songwriter, who writes raw and honest lyrically-driven folk songs that are as powerful as they are vulnerable; songs that make you think and feel and laugh and cry; songs that make you feel a little less alone. Blair Borax released her debut EP ‘everything is light work’ in May 2021 and is working on her next. You can find Blair writing in her bedroom, recording at Groundswell Studios, and performing on stages across Portland and beyond.

With rich lyrics and a voice like molasses, Blair Borax makes music that moves you to the heart of being human, offers you a warm cup of tea, and invites you to stay a while.

Iris Sullivan Daire Opening Reception @ Sou'wester Lodge Art Gallery Trailer
Apr 8 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Join us as we celebrate our newest art installation.

WHAT? Ancestral Threads – an installation

Iris Sullivan Daire

WHO? Artist and Naturalist Dyer Iris Sullivan Daire, with soundscape by Tyler Little

WHERE? Sou’Wester Lodge Gallery Trailer – Seaview Washington

WHEN? Opens April 8, 2022 runs through June 2022

Artist Statement:

Ancestral Threads is a handwoven and hand dyed installation by artist Iris Sullivan Daire, with a soundscape by musician Tyler Little.

The threads of the Dead are buried, though not gone. A powerful dream showed me the emergence of the ancestors, connected by these threads.

Its is an unraveling and reweaving of the dreams and stories that tie us to the well Ancestors. Woven threads of natural color that twine through lineage and land. Flowers, leaves, roots and bugs, salt of the earth and water of the spring – of these things our ancestors color

A place of contemplation that supports the acknowledgement of those who have come before, so that we might reach a hand towards the benevolent ones of the unseen realms. To ask for their help untangling the challenges inherent in lovingly acknowledging the shadows of our past and present, and reimagining our world into greater balance.

(Installation includes a rug woven from repurposed sheets from the Sou’wester Lodge- bringing cloth that once held dreaming guests into the space.)

Bio:

Iris Sullivan Daire is an installation artist and naturalist dyer who uses site specific pigments and dyes to add new layers of meaning to the narrative of her work. She has been a hand weaver since she was seven, and has partnered with plants for color since the early 1990’s.

Iris lives with her family next to the Columbia River in Astoria, Oregon. She grows traditional dye plants and has been quietly cataloging the hidden colors contained within the native and invasive plants of the North Oregon Coast. She holds a BFA in fiber arts from University of Oregon.
