COMMUNITY CLAY PLAY
At Ilwaco Artworks
Clay Play is a casual, beginner-friendly session where you can learn handbuilding skills to create a finished piece! Ages 10+ w/an adult or ages 14+. $35/person. Register for any four Clay Plays for $100.
July Clay Plays | 1-4p:
- 7/20: Slab Animals
- 7/21: Ceramic Mobiles, Rain Chains or Garland
- 7/27: Ceramic Bookends
- 7/28: Ilwaco Art Walk Drop-in Clay Play. No rsvp necessary for 7/28.
August Clay Plays | 10a-1p:
- 8/4: Sake Sets- Pinch/coil-built simple pouring vessel/vase with wide belly and narrow neck. Set of 4-6 matching shot-glass sized vessels.
- 8/11: Incense Holders
- 8/17: “The Open Cube” / Five-walled objects – Slab built vases, catch-all’s, herb planters, seed starters, bonsai, wall vases, jewelry holders. Leather hard slab construction.
- 8/18: Wind Chimes
- 8/24: Soft Slab Impression Objects – Soft slabs rolled over local leaves/flora and slump formed over ready-made objects like cups, bowls, cans, etc.
- 8/25: Ilwaco Art Walk Drop-in Clay Play (1-4p): Mono Print Tiles. No rsvp necessary for 8/25.
- 8/31: Soft Slab Cups

- 9/1: Carved Bowls
- 9/8: Handled Cups
- 9/15: Reliquaries (AKA Ornate boxes for special items)

Kinsey Lee Presented by Sou’wester Arts!
Kinsey Lee is a member of the American indie folk band, The Wild Reeds. The Wild Reeds are known for their beautiful harmonies, poignant lyrics, and captivating performances. Kinsey Lee’s vocals are a central part of The Wild Reeds’ sound. She contributes her distinct voice and songwriting abilities to the band’s repertoire. With 10 years of writing, touring, and performing on her resume she has begun to find her voice as a solo artist. Kinsey recently debuted her first solo track “Lover’s song” recorded by Duff Thompson and Steph Green of Mashed Potato Records. She is currently working on a record as a follow up. Kinsey hopes to be like Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, Brandi Carlile, and Lucinda Williams when she grows up. Musicians with strong lyrics, true grit, and a heartfelt story to tell.

8/10 Raku Class: Obvara & Traditional Methods
8/10. $45. 10a-1p w/Hans Miles & Thandi Rosenbaum.
Option one: Pick up 2lbs of raku clay at the studio any time, build your pieces at home and then drop your work off at the studio to be bisqued by Aug 1st. Then, join us for the raku fire, August 10th, 10a-1p where we will glaze and fire your pieces and they will be ready to take home that day. Basic tools kits are also for sale in the studio.
Option two: Just join us on Aug 10th, 10a-1p and choose a pre-made and bisqued piece to be glazed and fired and taken home that day! Please select an option from the drop-down menu.
