Leatherworking Class: Mason Jar Coozie with Liz Wright

Learn how fun and easy it is to work with leather! Become familiar with how to stitch, rivet, and tool one of nature’s most durable and beautiful materials. You’ll leave with a unique thermal sleeve with your own design that will transform a standard mason jar into a personalized camp mug that’s perfect for hot and cold drinks! This class is designed for those with very little or no leatherworking experience. You’ll gain the basic skills and confidence you need to make all the leather goods your heart desires, such as wallets, belts, and jewelry.

Founded in 2016 by Liz and Brian Wright, Assembly ( hosts hands-on modern craft and DIY workshops in the Portland area. The workshops and classes, covering a wide variety of crafts, are perfect for beginners and designed to empower creativity and pique interest in potential new hobbies. Originally from Ohio, Liz Wright has a long history of creative projects and pursuits as a professional artist, clothing designer, video producer, small business owner, craft fair founder, and museum researcher. She holds a BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design and a MA from the University of Washington. She considers herself a lifelong learner and enjoys the challenges and thrills of learning a new skill and supporting others to do the same. At Assembly Liz develops and teaches classes, runs daily operations, and steers the ship towards providing the most fun, accessible, and high quality creative educational experiences around.

COST: $30 plus a $15 material fee (Please pay material fee directly to instructor.)

BRING: All supplies provided as well as coffee and hot tea. This workshop is for students age 16 years and up, 15 students max, geared for beginners but all skill levels welcome.
